Design for Production

Trebax has repeatedly assisted several customers in different countries to bring new complex products into their factories. We can take responsibility for bringing your product over the critical gap between test bench and volume production by specifying and building production test system hardware and software, writing instructions and documentation. We can follow on into the factory, assist with test setup and the training of personnel.

We perform design reviews before production start to ensure manufacturability of the product from the following perspectives:

  • We analyze the product performance. Are design margins well conditioned towards component parameter spread and towards accuracy in production methods?

  • We analyze product economy and sourcing security. Are there critical components with unsecure supply? Supply chain security may require evaluation of alternative sources. Sometimes the design needs adjustments to accept alternate components. Are costly components replaceable with cheaper alternatives, or is their price motivated by giving the product unique properties highly valued by the customer?

  • We analyze the production flow. How many steps and different processes are required? Are the processes fully qualified? What is the optimum test effort for assuring full function? Is certain training of the staff necessary?

  • The case may be one of an existing product with yield problems. Too much hands-on efforts, too many unexplainable faults? Is there an underlying problem with the design as such, or is it insufficient workmanship in production? We are skilled in failure mode analysis and problem solving and we treat an entangled situation by breaking down and analyzing product and production processes, physically and theoretically. We suggest and test actions to bring the production on track.
